Definitely Worth Reading

I was surprised by how useful I found this book. Other self help books I have read in the past have been like doing homework, but this was written from the authors own experience so it was quite easy to read. It explained why we self sabotage our weight loss efforts and gave practical solutions to help yourself. I feel quite hopeful that I can work at losing weight for good after reading this.

Traian and Joie's story

Dark Descent is book 11 in the series, is a novella and can also be found in ' The Only One'(original) and as a bonus story in The Dark Prince April 2005 edition. I am reviewing the story and its place in the 'Dark' series to provide information and not the audio product, which I haven't heard.

This is the story of Traian Trigovise and Joie Sanders. She is some kind of bodyguard/agent in Austria. She gets hurt, and in her unconscious state connects with Traian. He is an ancient Carpathian, a race of people best described as good vampires. They can, however, turn into bad vampires if they kill their food source ie us! He has also been hurt and needs her assistance to escape.

This is a good short story and introduces important characters and series plot. It hasn't the depth of her novels (hence 4 not 5*), of course, but the quality of CF's writing is still there, including excellent characters.

Definitely recommend it, but read the series in order (Dark Prince first). I think the current number of books is now 18 novels and 3 novellas. Go to Christine Feehan's site to get all her series' information and great preview reads to most of her books. Any author should look at this site as an example of how to cater to the needs of their readers.

Dark Decent is a novella from the Dark Series. It was originally published in the anthology "The Only One". It is book #11 in the series. While a novella is never as detailed and rich as one of the actual books in the series, it can be a low cost introduction. If you like the book the first Novel in the series is Dark Prince

Wonderful But Short......

Christine Feehan has written another wonderful book, it has a fast moving plot and great story line. My only complaint is I wish it was longer. The Character's where interesting, funny, and a different twist on a story line that can get boring. There where not to many sex scenes in this one although in most of her books there is a little to much. Great read I couldn't put it down and found myself reading it in one day.

Kiki Ward was hired as a flight attendant for American Airlines in 1986. She has been based at Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and Honolulu. Kiki has worked both as an international flight attendant flying to destinations within Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as a domestic flight attendant serving destinations around North America, Canada and Mexico. Kiki is a recipient of The Professional Flight Attendant Award and has represented American Airlines at numerous charity and celebrity events, spoken at career day events as well as been invited to appear as a featured author at aviation seminars. Kiki Ward's Book is Worth Every Penny

Although I can not give this book five stars, I can not give in one star either like someone else did, or even two stars like a few other users did. If I had to judge this book by the way it was written and the way it was written only, I would give it 5+ stars, and on a scale of 1-10, a 10+. I really thought it was that good, and I would highly recommend this book to anybody whether they are interested in becoming a flight attendant or simply someone who likes to read. I feel I got something out of this book. In fact, I think Kiki Ward should be a writer (or write more books), and that is my opinion.

While I highly recommend this book, the only reason I give this book four stars instead of five is because I can not guarantee that it will land you the job, and that's the issue I ran into. As other Amazon users have mentioned, it gives excellent tips on what to expect at one of these flight attendant sessions, and the proper way to conduct oneself and go dressed while attending these recruiting events. In response to the interview questions and answers written in this book, I would highly advise using it as a reference only because the questions you will be asked at these interviews will differ from one airline to another. Furthermore, in some of the questions, Ward informs the reader that the answers have to be related to his or her work history. Therefore, there is no real answer. However, the questions mentioned in this book are all essentially the same/similar ones you will actually be asked; but, again try to investigate the questions the airline(s) you are applying to will ask. Prior to reading this book, I was asked the question about how to deal with a drunken passenger at one interview, and answered it incorrectly. This book actually gives the question and correct answer. After all, the reader is getting information from an actual flight attendant employed by American Airlines, and people say this is one of the airlines that is hard to get into. Another thing to point out, like others have previously mentioned, is that in this book there are a few typos here and there. It's nothing that would make me discourage someone from purchasing this book, but I feel it's important to point out. The only thing I can say is that flight attendant recruiters are EXTREMELY picky over who they choose, and one small imperfection and/or wrong answer can cost an applicant dearly. I would highly encourage anyone interested in becoming a flight attendant to look at several publications (this one included) and, most importantly, try to speak with other flight attendants to find out every little detail you can because the interview process for the flight attendant job is unlike any other.

Despite all that, it was a very good book, and it really makes me want to meet Kiki Ward one of these days. As I write this review, I have since read the book from cover to cover twice, and used the chapter with the interview questions as reference a few times. As a result, I felt very prepared for my interview. Ward knows how to intrigue her audiences, and this book made me want to keep reading more. With that being said, this book is awesome, and I hope I can see another book by Kiki someday. The best of luck to anybody wishing to pursue a career as a flight attendant.

Love it! I just received the book yesterday and ...

Love it! I just received the book yesterday and read through the first chapter. The first chapter answered many of the questions I had about being a FA. I tried to google information, go on Youtube and look at FA videos to try and find information about being an FA but it wasn't enough to answer my questions that I had to prepare me for what to expect as an FA, both the pros and the cons. The author really explains to you what your life as a FA will be like which helped me to understand what will be required of me and to make a better decision on if this is the right career choice. Well, after reading the first chapter I still want to be an FA and this book will definitely prepare me for the interview process, training, relocation and any other things or situations associated to being a FA. If you are planning to make a career change like myself or starting a career as an FA, I highly recommend this book.

Not An Essential Guide

I am not sure why this book has such an excellent rating on here. I bought this after reading quite a few articles, perusing Facebook groups dedicated to those seeking a career as a Flight Attendant, watching youtube channels about the lifestyle, etc. I was pretty disappointed to find that this book offered very little new information for me and honestly didn't reveal any "secrets" regarding the behind the scenes of an Airline interview. There wasn't any more information compared to a google search of the same questions; articles that I had already read on the internet about interviews and, specifically, how to answer interview answers. Also the grammar is terrible! It is as if the author didn't have anyone proofread for errors.. constantly using the wrong from of their and they're. Very annoying and unprofessional.

If you haven't done any research about this career I can see how one would think it helpful, but in my opinion the entire book is rather bland, somewhat opinionated, and lacking. (And the grammar errors! Grr.) Don't buy this when you can find better information about Flight Attendant Interviews by doing a little google search first!

About the Author
Matthew Morris has worked with the Oracle database since 1996 when he worked in the RDBMS support team for Oracle Support Services. Employed by Oracle for over eleven years in support and development positions, Matthew was an early adopter of the Oracle Certified Professional program. He was one of the first one hundred Oracle Certified Database Administrators (version 7.3) and was also in the first hundred to become an Oracle Certified Forms Developer. In the years since, he has upgraded his Database Administrator certification for releases 8i, 9i, 10G and 11G, added the Application Express and the Oracle SQL Expert certifications and is an Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional. Outside of Oracle, he has CompTIA certifications in Linux+ and Security+. Matthew is an experienced Database Administrator and PL/SQL developer and has been creating Web applications with Oracle Application Express since the early days of its release. He is currently employed as a Database Engineer with Computer Sciences Corporation developing enterprise applications.

Good book for identifying the scope of the exam.

This book was very handy in drawing the boundaries/scope of the exam. Of cause it didn't go into much details on the topics, and as stated by the author, it does not teach you the language. But it filled a much needed void that the exam had, a study guide.

PL/SQL has a very large scope as a programming language and even if you take the exam topics, the oracle documentation as well as the most popular text books on the language provide very comprehensive information on them. It was really difficult to come to terms on how much was covered in the exam.

It would have been ideal if the book contained more examples and some exercises. But even without them, the book is very useful.

Excellent supplemental to studying

I credit passing 1z0-144 in large part to this book. It provides an excellent outline to all the topics covered in the test, which helped me determine where I needed more studying. Though no substitute for reading the Oracle docs, for hands-on practice, etc., it is ideal for that last push before taking the test.

I think this book is a good example of why it is wrong to judge a ...

I think this book is a good example of why it is wrong to judge a book by the blurb and cover. There is so much more going on that what you think when you go into this story. The characters are dealing with deep issues, everyday life, and heartache, this is delivered in a style that touched my heart and I connected with the pain, happiness, and fun Cat and Huck experience throughout the book. I found them interesting and "real."
I think this is a good book and will definitely recommend it.

Hooked is a fun read that will leave you in tears of laughter and heartache.

The couple in the story is Cat and Huck; they meet one day while hanging out at the beach. They have a very passionate night together, but the next day Cat insists they go their separate ways. Little does she know that’s not so easy when she learn Huck’s true identity and that they’ll be spending more time together.

I liked Cat from the very beginning. I loved how she was a bit of a tomboy, who loved to skateboard and spray paint graffiti on the walls at Venice Beach. She definitely comes across as a tough person, but beyond that exterior she’s someone who’s been hurt in the past and that’s why she keeps people at bay. My heart went out to Cat when I learned what she experienced in the past with her father, plus having to deal with the illness of her mother. Throughout the book, we see Cat trying to hold it together, but soon her emotions give way.

As for Huck, at the beginning I didn’t connect with his character much, but as soon as I learned his real identity, that’s when his personality started to show. I liked how he was supposed to be a straight-laced businessman, yet Cat taught him how to have fun. My favorite moments in the book are when he’s spending time with Cat and her friend, Jay. Speaking of Jay, he was my favorite character in the book and he brought out the humor as he acted as a go-between for Cat and Huck.

Despite the humor from Jay, there are a lot of sad moments in Hooked where you learn about Cat and Huck’s secrets. You’ll find yourself getting emotional as they break down and face the hard truths of their lives.

Overall, this is a great story that’s emotionally gripping, yet provides light-hearted humor along the way. If you’re a fan of these types of stories, then Hooked is the book for you.

Hooked is a great read. I was hooked right from the beginning. Hooked is told from the dual POVs of Huck and Cat. I'm a big fan of dual POVs. I loved getting into both of their heads. Christine Manzari does a good job writing in the male and female views.

Cat or Cate is a great character. She's not the relationship kind of girl. For her love is a family thing and she doesn't let many people in because she doesn't want to risk a broken heart. Cat is an artist and she works as a graphic designer. She is also very athlete and even skateboards.

When we first meet Huck or Will, he has this sexy stalker vibe going on. He watches her exercise on the beach. Huck isn't sure if she is approachable or not but Cat breaks the ice and goes to him first.

Cat's best friend Jay helps get the ball rolling behind Huck and Cat. Jay is Cat's gay best friend. I loved him, he brings some great things to the story.

Cat and Huck have great chemistry together. There are a lot of things that they have to overcome before they can make a working relationship. They have work issues, family issues, Huck's ex, and Cat's insecurities. All that makes for a very interesting story.

It's a great read. It keep me interested from beginning to end. When reading I took time to read the chapter titles too, those are great and set the mood for the chapters.
