This was an exceptional book. Read it before 1L year. Not necessarily a must read, but the history and concepts discussed have probably helped make the transition to law school a bit easier. Regardless, very interesting book!

Dense, inconsistent, and not great for students

My dosage systems class in pharmacy school is currently using this textbook. While the book is informative, several chapters give over 100 equations for only a few topics, making it hard to reference for standard equations. There are in chapter problems that are helpful, but you must go online for additional problems that have answers attached to them. Unfortunately, these online problems neglect to provide all information required for each problem (i.e., Ka values) and you are required to look online for this information. The problems are often difficult to solve and do not match well with the textbook information. Even though answers are provided for these, the steps in how they got the answer are not provided, making it hard to use as an additional study aid. Do not buy this book used, as the online material is only available to 1 email. The book is often inconsistent in writing variables in equations (i.e., sometimes a capitalized, sometimes a lower-cased, differences between chapters). It's sad, but overall if you are looking for this as a reference source, I would suggest not purchasing and just using Wikipedia when you need information on a topic, as I often find myself having to read topics on there to clarify poorly explained topics in the book.

Kindle version BEWARE

I'm a fan of kindle textbooks. I spend all day on campus and don't have the desire or back to carry a ton of books around with me. I was very disappointed that X-ray isn't activated on this but I can live with that. However, NONE OF THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS are printed in the Kindle book. Instead you have to access the online resource to view them. Again, not that big a problem, however.... the one thing you don't get with the kindle version is that magical access code that comes on the inside cover of the actual book. I am Currently waiting for a reply from the publisher to see if they'll give me that access code for free, or if ill be asking for a return from the kindle store since I'm still in the 7 day return period. Either way, what a headache.

It gets the job done...

This book is rather dense. In some chapters there are nearly 100 equations for only one or two concepts which can make it kind of confusing. But when it all comes down to it, this book will definitely help you understand Pharmaceutical chemistry better. Good luck.

She does a great job of creating a suspenseful story-line and a nice ...

I've been a fan for Ally Carter's books for a long time. She does a great job of creating a suspenseful story-line and a nice mix of ensemble characters. More so than her previous series, in the Embassy Row series, I had a harder time relating to Grace. In the first book, specifically, Grace was a troubled girl, and not a particularly fun character to read about. I understood and appreciated that her narrative was written in a gritty, emotional way (going along with what her character had been through), but I missed her character development. In the second book, I again felt like Grace as a character was overshadowed by some of the action of the plot. I'm happy to say, though, that in Take the Key and Lock Her Up, we finally see a Grace that can be happy and not let her grief weigh her down.

That being said, this book was my favorite out of the series and the strongest by far!

Pros: The pace of the book was quite nice, and the subplots all flowed together and were tied up nicely. I liked how certain tidbits of information from previous books (even just a sentence or two) came back to have a large part in this book. Grace and her friends grew up in this novel, and it was nice to see how the characters supported one another.
Alexei was also a great plus of this book! The romance was nicely scattered throughout the book, and thankfully there wasn't too much angst between Grace and Alexei keeping them apart.

Cons: I would have liked to know more about the Society, for its motives were not fleshed out fully. I honestly forgot about it in the scenes it wasn't mentioned, and I just wasn't sure what to think of it even at the end of the book.
I wished Grace's other family would have been involved more, including her grandpa, Jamie, and Grace's dad. I really enjoyed Jamie as a character and understood he was injured for most of the book, but it seemed like he should have been more involved. It bothered me that Grace's dad was nowhere to be found-- you're telling me that his kids are being hunted by political leaders and he doesn't step in and try and protect him? And he's high up in the army but doesn't know anything? I get it if he wasn't informed, but seeing that a lot of the adults involved didn't tell him either was strange.

Overall, this was the strongest book in the Embassy Row series and it was a nice wrap up of all the mysteries surrounding Grace and her friends!

Five Shining Stars to a Trilogy Well-Done!

Take the Key and Lock Her Up (2016) is the third installment in Ally Carter’s Embassy Row series, following All Fall Down and See How They Run. Once more, we plunge into the disturbed mind of teenage Grace Blakely in this fast-paced, nonstop international action/thriller for young adults.

Grace and her brother, Jamie, have just learned a centuries-old secret about their true heritage, which threatens the royal family of Adria, the secret women’s Society their mother once belonged to, and possibly the peace in Europe. With Grace’s Russian love interest, the stoic Alexei, the youths and their protector are on the run for their lives. Jamie has been seriously injured, and Grace fears the worst for her brother if he doesn’t seek medical help. Desperate to keep him alive, Grace throws herself to the wolves, only to be met with an impossible compromise.

This whole Embassy Row series really is excellent, and the third and final book pulled out all the stops. Everything major connected nicely in the grand finale, which was truly a nail-biter. I liked the whole ‘nursery rhyme’ theme running through the series and how the rhyme held centuries-old answers. I also enjoyed that these books have a cast of characters full of brave, bright and powerful women. Take the Key and Lock Her Up has everything from our hard-edged, not-your-ordinary narrator, action, international intrigue and a dash of romance, to high-stakes danger, fictional but fun history, and royal secrets. If you like the idea of an action series for teens with a darker twist on The Selection, mixed with the history of Anastasia Romanov, then these are the books for you! Five stars to a trilogy well-done. I’d love to read more on Embassy Row.

Great ending!

Great conclusion to another lovely Ally Carter series. While Embassy Row wasn't my favorite (it's so hard to beat Heist Society and Gallagher Girls), I did love this book most of the 3 in the series. Grace finally feels like the heroine to me, and is less unsure, consequences be damned.

Great Idea-Terrible Execution

Having recently finished Mary Pope Osbourne subperb five volume retelling of the Odyssey, I wanted to reinforce some of the best stories for my five year old son. I thought this book in the "Grpahic Green Myths and Legends" series would be the best way to do this. Unfortunately, the quality of the illustrations in this volume are so amateur as to border on the laughable. This is a really ugly book. Avoid it at all costs.

Very helpful survey.

This book provides a very good, basic framework for looking at many of the major Christian denominations in America, as well as a brief look at other world religions in America. I used this book in a "Religion and Popular Culture" class in college, and am now using it to teach a class at my church. The book also has very good study questions, and many good website links.

This is the book on relgion that I've been looking for. I am a newly ordained Minister. I wanted to know about differant customs of Christian and non- Christian religians This book covers them all. Lots of information, and well written. Love it.

Absurd Price

Wow, I must say I am horribly surprised! I would never in my life have expected the price for a reference volume, consisting of independent chapters, made by a large number of people other than the authors, to have a price tag of an old car. Who's going to read this? Who is going to pay for this? As a collaborating author of a 50 page chapter in volume 4, and as I see it now, I would probably not have participated had I known that I would have worked for free to sell and publish something under somebody else name for a price tag that is astronomically out reach for any student. Shame on you.
